It is almost 11 P.M. on Thursday, May 20....the day started out great as I got this Blog up and going and so many of you responded positively...thank you, thank you.
Then it became more difficult as I had to put down a cat Harvey and I had found in a Coca Cola machine 14 1/2 years ago. She was just a tiny, terrified kitten and we named her Kola and took her up the mountain to Big Bear where we lived then. She was always terrified of people and so most of you never saw her and if you did, she wouldn't let you near her. Well for the last month in particular she has really been going down hill...after all she is 98 in people years....stopped eating and for the past three days wouldn't even drink water. I know she was shutting down and frankly I hoped she would just fall asleep and not wake up. But today it became obvious that she needed to be helped along as it wasn't fair or loving to her to allow her to continue going downhill. So I held her for a couple hours....something she would never normally let me do but she was too weak to fight me and she did seem to enjoy it...as though she knew that this was good-by. Then I took her to a Vet we hadn't met before nearer where we live than the one we usually go to and he turned out to be so wonderful and compassionate.....I think we will change. Anyway, she looked at me as the Dr. gently gave her her shot and instantly went to sleep. I know that she is with Harvey and her friends. And I will see her again....
And that was my world on May 20!
