My World This Week-end

Well I didn't get everything I had on my "to do" list done, but I did take Mom shopping Saturday and she did very well walking all around the grocery store and then today I ironed this afternoon as I had planned....now I know why I don't iron often..such a job!

But the high light of my week-end is that I am 99.999% sure that I have FINALLY found a church home and I am so excited.

Mom didn't feel like going as she is still nursing her cold but I had wanted to visit the church that was at Rancho Capistrano Retreat Center in San Juan Capistrano. Many of you here in So. Ca. have probably read how the Crystal Cathedral owned the property and was selling it and was basically forcing the church, which had originally been started by the elder Schuller's son Robert Jr., out.

Well, this was the first Sunday they met in their new location which, interestingly, is in a Jewish Synagogue in Aliso Viejo. It is called : CAPISTRANO COMMUNITY CHURCH and it is absolutely wonderful. The congregation has about 150 members and they all were almost there. They have a wide range of ages and lots of activities and the facility is wonderful for their needs. The worship is great, the pastor very interesting and the congregation welcoming. I truly felt like I was "home" and will go again next week....I can't wait for Mom to go with me as I think she will like it too. It looks like they have some activities that might interest her including a quilters and stitchers group that meet on the 1st and third Thursday evenings that I think we both might want to attend. And a Women's Bible Study on Wednesday Mornings which I'm not too sure about..there is a Bible Study on Wed. night led by the pastor that is more appealing to me but maybe Mom will meet somebody at the quilters that goes on Wed. and she can grab a ride.

The church is only about 10 minutes max from us and that is good too....

I'll keep you posted on this....I have checked out 5 churches since moving here and this is the first one that I am the most excited about. A church like this, that is growing, is a wonderful one to serve in. It reminds me of the dear church in Anaheim Hills where Harvey and I worshipped for years. We met in a grammar school library and then an office building and for a long time it was wonderful.
